Midfielders: Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba, Andreas Pereira
There is relief for United fans knowing that Paul Pogba is still available to the team after the transfer window shut. His fate still remains uncertain though, as Real Madrid have until September to sign him.
In the current setup, Scott McTominay will be the deepest lying midfielder to protect the back four. The Scot is more mobile than Nemanja Matic and should get the nod for this tie.
Pogba may be required to play slightly deeper than his usual role but that has never stopped him from opening up play.
Unlike last season, there will not be a big target man up front. United will rely on the pace and mobility from the forward players, as seen in pre-season.
Andreas Pereira will be in as the glue to the front line and will also be expected to take care of his defensive responsibilities. This season, the Brazilian will finally get more chances given that Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera have already departed. His task will be to look for the channels of distribution and put pressure on the opposition midfield.
