#7 Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City) | 7.31
Manchester City are not afraid of splurging money on players, but more often than not their spending has been justified.
Riyad Mahrez joined Manchester City from Leicester City in 2018 for an eye-watering fee of £61 million but has proved to be worth the price. The forward has been one of the best wingers in the Premier League this season, with his ability to cut in from the right-wing causing huge problems for opposition defenses.
An excellent passer, the 30-year old has been one of the best players in the league for some time now, but has evolved under Guardiola's guidance. Mahrez has played 26 league games, scoring nine goals and providing five assists. The Algeria international is one of the most underrated players in this star-studded City side.
#6 Tomas Soucek (West Ham United) | 7.35
West Ham United have been one of the best sides in the Premier League this season, and Tomas Soucek has been one of their many players receiving plaudits for his performances.
The Czech Republic international was not a big name when he arrived from Slavia Prague on loan in January 2020, but his consistent form in midfield saw the Hammers buy him on a permanent deal last summer for a fee of £15 million.
Soucek has excelled in the West Ham United midfield, with his aerial skills and defensive qualities, as well as his uncanny ability to find the back of the net.
The 26-year old has made 37 Premier League appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing one assist. His style of play has been compared to that of Marouane Fellaini.
#5 Mason Mount (Chelsea) | 7.36
The rise of Mason Mount has been incredible to watch, and it is clear that the young star is on his way to the very top.
Criticism was aimed at then-Chelsea boss Frank Lampard and England manager Gareth Southgate for constantly starting Mason Mount. Big money arrivals like Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech, who were signed last summer, were seen as an indication that Mount would have to make do with a bench role this season.
A season later, the 22-year old has been awarded the Chelsea Player of the Year for 2020/21, and is one of the first names in Chelsea's starting XI. Chelsea through and through, the England international's creativity, versatility and passing ability have been appreciated. Mount has played 35 league games this season, scoring six goals and providing five assists.
#4 Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) | 7.43
Regarded by many as the best midfielder in the Premier League this season, Bruno Fernandes is the only Manchester United player to feature on this list.
Fernandes is already a fan favorite among the Old Trafford faithful, and his signing has been compared to that of Eric Cantona. The 26-year old has added much-needed drive, intensity, goals and creativity to the Manchester United midfield and it is hard to envisage a Manchester United side without Fernandes these days.
The Portugal international was recently awarded the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award, his second in a row. Fernandes has made 37 Premier League appearances, scoring 18 goals and providing 12 assists.
