#7 Didier Drogba - vs. West Brom (2010)
So what if Agbonlahor was the first in this millennium to score an opening weekend hat-trick in the Premier League? Drogba has done that too. And he was the last until Sterling came along today.
A peerless tormentor back in the day, the Ivorian devoured West Brom with his blistering exploits and scored thrice as then-reigning champions Chelsea romped to a 6-0 win on matchday one.
Not amongst his best trebles for the Blues, but Drogba nevertheless made his chances count - opening his account with a sublime free-kick, followed by a simple tap-in and then rounding off with a wicked deflection.
And by the way, this was his second consecutive hat-trick in the Premier League, having also netted three times against Wigan Athletic on the final day of the previous season. And the final score? 8-0.
