Every week, Premier League matches provide good entertainment to its fans. Whether it be an outrageous goal or an outstanding tackle, It never lets the fans down. Players work their heart out to give us a spectacle to watch. So, why not reward them by giving them awards for the most entertaining moments!
Here are the 5 awards for Premier League Matchweek 10...
#1 Substitute of the Week - Anthony Martial
Manchester United vs Tottenham was anticipated to be a thrilling encounter. But apart from some noteworthy moments, it failed to live up to the expectation. Both the clubs failed to create clear-cut chances in the first half. Manchester United raised the tempo of the game in the second half but were unable to breakthrough. The most exciting moment of the match was provided by the super-sub Anthony Martial in the 81st minute.
Martial anticipated a knock-on by Lukaku and made the decisive run to go one on against Lloris, after which a mis-hit was enough to get the goal which United needed. Lack of awareness from the Tottenham's back line resulted in conceding the goal. Eric Dier should have anticipated the move better or Vertongen should have followed the run of Martial.
#2 Match of the week (Crystal Palace vs West Ham)
Everyone was anticipating the Manchester United vs Tottenham showdown to be the match of the week, but the Crystal Palace - West ham match took the limelight. A great recovery, some good goals, a shot against the woodwork; the match had everything a fan wants.
Joe Hart was instrumental in keeping West Ham's lead intact, as the on-loan stopper produced an incredible double save. Hart first reacted sharply to get a big right hand on James Tomkins’ powerful header. Then, after Jose Fonte sliced his attempted clearance from the rebound, Hart got back to his feet in the nick of time to somehow get his left arm in the way of Jeffrey Schlupp’s effort. The England no. 1 barely knew anything about it, as Schlupp sat grounded looking at Hart in disbelief.
West Ham were cruising towards the victory after they went two-nil up against a defensively weak Crystal Palace but at Selhurst Park, you can rarely expect an easy victory. Crystal Palace fought back with a goal by Luka Milivojevic. West Ham then were able to stop Crystal Palace till the 96th minute, but Antonio's mistake proved too costly as Palace were able to snatch a goal in the 97th minute!
#3 Blooper of the Week - Jonjoe Kenny
Everton were still in the match after going down by a by Jamie Vardy, but a mistake by Jonjoe Kenny proved too costly for Everton. Kenny, who was making just his third Premier League appearance of the season, had a miserable afternoon at the King Power Stadium that was highlighted by his costly error just short of the half-hour mark.
Following a fast-flowing counter-attack, Demarai Gray sent a low cross into the penalty area which the 20-year-old had the misfortune of slicing into his own net, past the rooted Jordan Pickford in goal.
The goal was first thought to be an own goal but it was awarded to Demarai Gray who had no intention of scoring it! Kenny's mistake meant Leicester doubled their lead and managed to secure an impressive victory over David Unsworth's side in Claude Puel's first game in charge.
#4 Goal of the Week - Andre Ayew
Andre Ayew's goal was a rocket from 15 yards out, something you cannot miss. Ayew picked up the ball from the halfway line and made it a three on three counter-attack against West Ham but he chose to go all by himself, and boy he did the right thing! Running at Scott Dann, the former Swansea man, jinked right and left before cutting onto his weaker side and rifling a wonderful finish past Julian Speroni.
Although two down at the break, there were signs Palace could manage a comeback and that is exactly what they did. It was a bitter blow to West Ham, who came into the game off the back of a rousing comeback win over Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, but now find themselves just a point above the bottom three.
Andre Ayew has now made it three goals in five days with his latest strike following his double in Wednesday's 3-2 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup.
#5 Miss of the Week - Charlie Adam
Every footballer dreams of the day, where there are no defenders around his shoulders and he can just dribble pass a keeper to score an easy goal. Charlie Adam was one such footballer whose dream came true on Saturday, but rather than scoring a goal he chose to give us a miss to laugh about for weeks!
With Watford desperately searching for an equaliser, Adam found himself free of the last defender and even managed to dance his way past Gomes, but he took a bit too much time on the ball and his effort trickled its way onto the post. Tracking the ball to the post was a painful watch!
If Stoke wouldn't have won the match, then surely Charlie Adam would have received a lot of stick from Stoke City supporters.
