Alderweirld hints at Spurs Stay
In an unexpected turn of events, Tottenham Hotspur center-back Toby Alderweirld has suggested that he may have a future in North London and could end up staying, Sky Sports claims.
The Belgian has only 12 months remaining on his contract and endured a difficult second half last season following a return from a hamstring injury as his playing time became limited and was relegated to the bench which further led to both parties failing to agree to terms on a new contract.
Manchester United had been touted as one of the favourites to land Alderweireld earlier in the year as there seemed to be a friction in his relationship with Mauricio Pochettino, especially when the defender was controversially left out of Tottenham's squad for the Round of 16 first leg tie against Juventus last season.
Since Alderweireld is now open to the idea of staying, Spurs should tie him down to a new contract since he has been one of their best players for the last three seasons and an instrumental figure in the club becoming a genuine top-four contender.
