Arsenal target Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria, £22m fee involved

According to Daily Mail, Arsenal are looking to negotiate a deal with Serie A club Sampdoria to sign Lucas Torreira. The 22-year-old central midfielder is currently on World Cup duty with Uruguay.

"Lucas Torreira has a release clause," Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero had said. "Everyone knows it. Whoever wants to take Torreira will have to work with that release clause; €25m."

However, with the limited budget at their disposal, the Gunners might look to pay that amount in instalments rather than the full transfer fee up front.

If the deal goes through, Torreira might be a like-for-like replacement for Santi Cazorla who departed the Emirates following his fitness and injury issues.
