Hello and welcome to the Premier League transfer roundup for the day. Goalkeepers and defenders have made a mark today with some big news. So without further ado, let’s begin!
#5 Newcastle
According to the folks at The Sun, Newcastle United are among the four Premier League clubs interested in acquiring the signature of Franco Cervi of Benfica. He is rated at £20 million and has also been linked with West Ham, Brighton and Swansea.
With relegation impending on West Brom, Burnley are going to make a move for Jay Rodriguez in the summer, according to the Daily Mail. Rodriguez was born in Burnley and apparently supported the club while growing up.
#4 Icardi update
Mauro Icardi is a player on Chelsea’s radar as the Argentine has been previously linked with the Blues and they may have a bad news as Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio has stated that the big players of Inter won’t have to be sold should they miss out on the Champions League.
“I don’t think we’ll need to necessarily sell a big player if we don’t get into the tournament, as last season we found a different way to balance the books too,” he was quoted as saying by TalkSport.
#3 Manchester madness
The pass master is wanted by the pass-lover!
What is with these Manchester clubs? At first, Jorginho was linked with Manchester United and now, he is being linked with a move to Manchester City. In retrospect, it makes more sense because Jorginho is a pass-master – a perfect Guardiola player.
According to The Guardian, Manchester City are lining up a £52.5 million move for Napoli’s midfield engine as a replacement for the ageing Yaya Toure and a competitor to Fernandinho.
#2 Arsenal budget
With Wenger out of the way next season, one would have thought that the new manager would have a lot of money to spend in the summer. But if a report from The Telegraph is to be believed, then Arsenal have only £50 million to spend in the window.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have been linked with numerous defenders in the past and they might get one in the summer in the form of their long-term target Kalidou Koulibaly. According to Daily Star, the Blues are preparing a £65 million bid for the Napoli star in the summer.
#1 More Manchester madness
Apparently, Don Balon report that Lionel Messi has lost sleep over Marc-Andre ter Stegen as the goalkeeper has been linked with a move to Manchester United. The Red Devils fear the departure of David De Gea and could make a €150 million bid for the German.
Meanwhile, it looks like it is going to be a busy summer for the Red Devils as they are going to sign new full-backs in the summer with Tottenham’s Danny Rose on top of the list, say The Guardian.
