Fred hasn’t been a great signing for the Red Devils so far this season. As a result, many are wondering as to why he was signed in the first place. According to journalist Andy Mitten, though, United signed him more as a means to anger Manchester City rather than actually needing him.

He added that the same was the case with Alexis Sanchez and that United resorting to something like that is a poor reflection of how things are being run there.

"City were definitely interested in him - so there's definite elements here of 'City like him, so not only can we sign him, we can p**s City off,” Mitten said.

"That's pretty sad that Manchester United have come to that because we had that with Alexis Sanchez as well."

Meanwhile, Don Balon state that Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested Davinson Sanchez. Spurs price him at €60 million and the rise of Juan Foyth has put his indispensability under question.
