Hello and welcome to the Premier League transfer roundup for the day! Here are the top stories of the day surrounding the Premier League!

Brendan Rodgers would have been a good option for Chelsea

Paul Merson would have liked to see Brendan Rodgers with the Blues as Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri’s job at Stamford Bridge is under scrutiny. The former Napoli manager may not be the head coach of the club next season and Merson thinks that Rodgers, who is in pole postition to take over at Leicester City, would be a good replacement.

Merson thinks that the former Liverpool manager has the personality to handle the Chelsea dressing room and can sort it out while also adding that he doesn’t get the credit that he deserves.

“It's a strong dressing room, you'd have to go and sort that out very quickly, because I think they have a big say in decisions,” he said.

"I like Brendan Rodgers, and he'd have to go in and make sure he sorts out the dressing room. I think he's one of the best managers about, I really do, I think he's top, top drawer and I don't think he gets the credit he deserves. I'd take him [at Chelsea]!"

He then went on to state that whichever club signs Rodgers as their manager would be in good hands.

"Whoever gets hold of Brendan Rodgers will have a very good manager. People say: 'Oh, what he did at Liverpool [is lessened] because he had Suarez'. That's rubbish.”

Going by Merson's words, Leicester have appointed the right man.

Nicolas Pepe could be sold

Lille superstar Nicolas Pepe could be sold in the summer according to the sporting director of the club, Luis Campos. The 23-year-old has been in great form this season and has attracted the interest of Tottenham Hotspur.

And the words of Campos might be music to Daniel Levy’s ears as he claimed that Lille might have to sell him if they got a good offer.

“We are not a rich club. It means that if a really good proposal comes in for Pepe, we have to sell him,” he said.

Alexis Sanchez to Sevilla?

Yes, you read that right. According to reports in Spain, Alexis Sanchez might just end up at Sevilla next season. The report claims that Sevilla could have cash in the summer with teams circling around Wissam Ben Yedder and have, as a result, put Sanchez on their radar.

The report adds that the Red Devils have given permission to the Chilean to negotiate with other clubs as they are not interested in retaining his services beyond this season.

Pellegrini hopes Zabaleta plays next season

There are reports of Pablo Zabaleta moving to Manchester City as a coach next season but former Etihad manager Manuel Pellegrini hopes that the Argentine stays and plays for West Ham next season.

He believes that Zabaleta won’t become a coach so soon as he doesn’t think he wants to retire so soon.

“I don’t see Pablo next season not continuing to play,” he said. “His mentality is as a player, maybe in the future he can be a very good coach also, but I don’t think that he wants to retire.

“I would prefer to have him as a player [not go to City as a coach]. After that we can see if he is a coach or not, but now he is playing and inside the dressing room he has a very important duty.”

De Gea deal in danger

Despite negotiating for over a year, talks on agreeing upon a new deal with David De Gea is yet to reach a final point. According to the Standard, the Red Devils are willing to make £350,000-a-week to make him the highest-paid ‘keeper in the world.

However, this doesn’t seem to be enough and that has been stalling the deal to finalize.
