Hello and welcome to the Premier League latest transfer news and rumours of the day! Here are the top stories of the night surrounding the English clubs…
#5 North London
We start off today with a bit on north London. Tottenham have now managed to go two transfer windows without buying a single player. Even then, however, they find themselves at number two, much to the credit of the players and the manager.
As a result, former Bayern Munich star Owen Hargreaves thinks that the achievements of Mauricio Pochettino are amazing since almost every player he puts trust on helps them someway on the pitch.
“The fact they are second is a stunning achievement,” he said.
“It shows how good a job Pochettino is doing. Every player that steps in seems to do a job.”
Hargreaves then added that Spurs squad is already so good that only adding world class players could possibly improve them. He also predicted that Pochettino likes players with a great character and personality and finished off by claiming that Wilfried Zaha would be a great addition for the London outfit.
“Maybe the only way they are going to get better is with a genuine world-class player.
“He [Pochettino] only wants a player of high character. I think he wants people to fit in and not upset the balance.
“I would like to see Zaha at Tottenham.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Unai Emery has quashed claims of Mesut Ozil’s importance further diminishing with the arrival of Denis Suarez. According to the former Sevilla manager, Suarez was brought to play on the wings.
“It’s no change for him. [Suarez] is coming here because we have a lot of problems on the wing, we haven’t got players to play right or left – that is the reason,” he said.
#4 Courtois wants Hazard at Madrid
Former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois wants Eden Hazard to be signed by Real Madrid. The Galacticos have been linked with the Belgian superstar for a long time but he is not the only on their list.
Neymar is also another one of the Galacticos’ target but according to the former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper, the Merengues should opt to sign Eden Hazard. He also added that while he wants Hazard by his side at the Bernabeu, the final decision rests on the management.
"I [would] choose Eden, of course. I really like him, but the choice is up to the board,” he was quoted as saying.
"I do not know what will happen. That is not a question for me, but for the chairman and the management.”
The summer of 2019 is going to explosive at the Santiago Bernabeu.
#3 Lampard thanks Leicester City
Derby County manager Frank Lampard has expressed his gratitude towards former Premier League champions Leicester City for their supportive nature during the negotiation for Andy King.
King joined the Championship side on loan in the winter market and it has been reported that the Foxes are still paying a part of his salary. And Lampard’s words might suggest that it was indeed the case.
He stated that getting a deal done for King would have been very hard if it weren’t for the assistance of the King Power Stadium outfit.
"It was a difficult one for us because it was a deal that would have been difficult for us to do,” Lampard said.
"Leicester helped us, really, in that way, so we managed to get him in and he's a great addition for us in terms of numbers in midfield."
#2 Hudon-Odoi shall still be chased
Bayern Munich Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that the Bavarians’ pursuit of Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi is far from finished. The Bavarians wanted to sign the English youngster in the January market but Chelsea were adamant in their stance and refused to let him go.
However, Bayern are not accepting defeat as of yet. In fact, according to Rummenigge, the Bavarians will be back in their pursuit of the youngster as they think that he is an excellent talent. He also stated that there have been cases where Bayern couldn’t sign their targets on the first attempt itself.
“We also had transfers in the past that didn't work at the first attempt but at the second. And that's what we will work on now. To lay down a marker costs money,” he said.
“We want the best quality players here at Bayern and Hasan is absolutely convinced of that player."
#1 Manchester madness ft. Hazard
Manchester madness is back to the top as the Red Devils have finally been linked with a superstar player today. The Old Trafford outfit didn’t sign anyone in the winter market but that might change in the summer.
According to reports, Neymar has a clause which allows him to leave the Parisiens for less than €200 million should they not win the Champions League. Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona are monitoring the situation.
Meanwhile, Joe Cole has urged Chelsea to keep hold of Eden Hazard as he is an excellent player and the best in the league, according to the former Liverpool man.
“When you look at what he's done in the short space of time that he's been there. He's been an unbelievable player,” Cole said.
“I think he's the best player in the league and I think he's a top, top player and it's important the club keep hold of him.”
