#4 Danny Murphy is against top clubs signing in January
Former Tottenham star Danny Murphy is of the opinion that top clubs shouldn’t make signing in the January transfer window. While the January window gives teams the opportunity to make minor tweaks, Murphy is just not a fan of it.
According to him, players that arrive in the winter market have a very challenging task of adjusting themselves to a new team and culture in the middle of a season – especially given that everyone else in the team is in sync with the system.
“Why am I down on January signings? Because no matter how talented or strong you are, fitting into a new group in the middle of the season and making an impression is daunting,” he wrote.
“When you arrive, everyone else is in a rhythm, they know the training schedules, understand the manager’s philosophy and, most importantly, already have strong bonds and friendships in the dressing room.
