Matthijs De Ligt is one of the most coveted players in the world right now. He has had an excellent season with Ajax this year and has, as a result, incurred the interest of many European clubs with Manchester United being one of them.

However, according to Guillem Balague, the interest for the player has declined from Manchester United’s end due to the price of the defender. He also added that the Dutchman isn’t too keen to join the Old Trafford outfit due to them missing out on the Champions League.

“The interest from Manchester United cooled down because of the cost,” Balague said.

“And there wasn’t too much reciprocation of love, if you like, from De Ligt because Manchester United are not in the Champions League next season, so that was taken out of the list long time ago.”
