Asensio has been out of form this season

Liverpool and Marco Asensio have been a story that has been making the rounds for a while now. The Reds had been linked with a move for him in the summer but it all turned out to be just whispers in the air.

However, according to Eduardo Inda, it might just have been a bit more than that. The senior Spanish journalist claimed that the Reds made a £160 million offer for him in the summer but Real Madrid rejected it because they had only just sold Cristiano Ronaldo.

Klopp, however, is still in love with him and might make an attempt to sign him in the summer of 2019, Inda added.

“This year, an offer of £160million came from Liverpool for Real Madrid for Asensio,” he said. “The club said no because Cristiano [Ronaldo] left, but Klopp is in love with the player and will go for the player next summer.”
