Managers always have different criteria when it comes to signing a new player. However, the basis remains the same for everyone: that the said player needs to have the right attitude along with the talent.
This is something that Everton manager Marco Silva also likes to see in a player before signing him.
"It is important to have not just talent but strong personalities and good characters. We have that. It's something I pay close attention to before signing a player,” he said.
Meanwhile, former Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has admitted that he could have signed Virgil Van Dijk for Palace during his time as the manager there.
Ahead of Cardiff’s clash against Liverpool, he stated that he could have signed the Dutchman but was coaxed out of it by his scout.
“I’m pleased Van Dijk is playing like he is because I think we could have bought him at Palace for £6m,” he said.
“But my chief scout said he was too slow. I think he’s still in a job as well!
