#2 Mourinho not confident
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that he is not sure about whether goalkeeper David De Gea would sign a new contract with the club. The Spaniard’s contract ends in 2020 should United trigger the one-year extension clause.
As a result, the Red Devils want to tie him down to the club in a long-term deal but the shotstopper doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to put pen to paper. It is perhaps for this reason that the Portuguese tactician says that he isn’t sure whether the former Atletico Madrid ‘keeper would sign a new deal or not and that only the club or the player himself could answer that question.
"I am not confident," Mourinho said. "I cannot find the word in English, but let's see what happens.
"Only the club, David and his people can answer that. My comment is only that everyone knows how good he is, how important he is for Manchester United and, if the club want to be better than it is and not worse, obviously it would be very important to keep David."
