#2 Liverpool’s misses out on two world-class players
So there are two reports today that claim that Liverpool missed out on two world-class talents. Apparently, Ousmane Dembele revealed that he could have joined Liverpool in 2016.
"I spoke to three clubs (when leaving Rennes)," Dembele reportedly told French magazine Onze Mondial.
"Dortmund, Liverpool and Barcelona. I had an appointment with FC Barcelona. I told them, 'For next season, it will not be possible.
“But the next time you contact me, I'll come.' And that's what happened."
Meanwhile, Ilkay Gundogan admitted that he rejected father figure Jurgen Klopp to join Manchester City.
‘I was very close to joining Barcelona, but in the end, it didn’t work out. I am where I want to be and I am very happy,’ he was quoted as saying the Metro.
‘[Jurgen] Klopp wanted me, but I decided to go with Guardiola because his philosophy is closer to my style of play.
‘Klopp is like a father to me. Guardiola is a genius, a master. He is the best manager in the world.’
