Hello and welcome to the Premier League transfer roundup for the day! As always, with the summer window approaching, we have some fabulous rumours up ahead – so let’s begin without any further ado…
#5 Chelsea
According to Sport24, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic is personally interested in signing Arsenal target Aleksandr Golovin and will sign him for the London club, only to then send him to Vitesse Arnhem to gain experience. We all know how that ends, don’t we?
There is some bad news for Aston Villa fans as Leicester City will look to sign their star player Jack Grealish for £20 million should they fail to make a comeback to the Premier League next season, say the Mirror.
#4 Tottenham
Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that Spurs will conclude their transfer activity as early as possible in the summer due to the impending World Cup.
“We are working with Steve,” he said to Express. “The World Cup only can confirm your idea about a player. It is so dangerous to go and scout players in the World Cup because, if a player is good, how after are you going to sign him?
“Sometimes you need to anticipate and say, ‘OK this player can be good for us’ and then he goes to the World Cup. But you need to sign before the tournament starts because he is doing well and then you will have a lot of competition if they are good.”
#3 Manchester non-madness
For the first time, it feels like Manchester might not opt for madness in the summer transfer window as boss Jose Mourinho has ruled out spending over the top during the window.
“We are not going to spend more than we can. We are not going to do anything crazy. We are just trying to improve a little bit more. That’s what we are going to try,” Sky Sports quoted him.
“Everybody will try to improve – like we did from last season. Last season we finished sixth and this season we are going to finish, hopefully, second.”
#2 Merseyside
Another mid-table that are on a mission to strengthen themselves by purchasing quality players in the summer, Everton are apparently going to make another effort to sign Yacine Brahimi after failing to sign him in 2016, say A Spor.
It seems as though Liverpool are set to have a busy summer as they are consistently being linked with new players every day. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Reds are now eying Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen, who has a €60 million release clause in his contract.
#1 Rumours of the day
This is quite an ironical slider with respect to the third one as Don Balon state that Paris Saint-Germain have agreed to sell the Brazilian to Manchester United – they prefer to sell to them than to Real Madrid – for €400 million.
And now, for another ironical moment with regards to the previous paragraph: Diario Gol claim that Pep Guardiola and Manchester City believe that £200 million will be enough to coerce PSG into selling Neymar to them.
