Preston North End and Fulham return to action in the EFL Cup when they square off at the Deepdale Stadium on Tuesday. This will be the first meeting between the two sides since April 2022, when Marco Silva’s men cruised to a 3-0 victory at Craven Cottage.
Preston North End turned in a resilient team display on Saturday when they fought back from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.
Before that, Paul Heckingbottom’s side fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Oxford United on August 31 which saw their run of two consecutive victories come to an end.
Preston now return to action in the EFL Cup where they picked up a 2-0 win over Sunderland on August 13, two weeks before thrashing Harrogate Town 5-0 in the second round.
Fulham, on the other hand, were left spitting feathers at the weekend as they were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham United after conceding a 96th-minute equaliser at Craven Cottage.
However, Silva’s men have now gone four straight games without defeat in all competitions, picking up two wins and two draws since a 1-0 loss against Manchester United in their Premier League opener on August 16.
Fulham will look to take the positives from their draw against West Ham as they turn their sights to the EFL Cup, where they secured a 2-0 victory over Birmingham City to start the campaign on August 27.
