Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben is reportedly a target for French giants Paris Saint-Germain. The Parisian giants are hoping to bring the player in while pushing their current manager Unai Emery through the revolving door and bring in a surprising fresh face.
The French outfit are hoping to land the player by summer while making their approach very clear to Bayern this winter. The board are very interested in landing a player of his caliber and are not fazed by the player’s old age, especially with an early bid of £30 million. The 32-year-old is still considered to be a very clinical player and is currently not too worried about not having his contract extended in Munich.
The Bayern number 10 has managed only 13 appearances in all competitions so far but has managed 6 goals and 6 assists so far.
"I still have a contract and my contract does not end in winter. All will be fine."
“We have very good players; Kingsley [Coman] and Douglas [Costa] are very good. We have a good squad and for me the question is not the most important one. I want to continue playing football myself as long as possible. I hope to participate for some more years.”
In Paris, however, many believe that Unai Emery's departure is imminent. The favourite to replace him is ex-Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal. The Dutch manager is out to prove himself after a dismal spell at the Manchester club and is hungry for redemption. The news definitely won’t be good for PSG winger Angel Di Maria, who suffered a torrid time until he was sold by the manager during his previous spell.
Arjen Robben however, has previously praised the Dutch manager. "From the first day, he made me feel important. He gave me an important role and I had a great first year. I am very thankful to him. He is a coach who makes individual players better. That is rare nowadays.”
The former Chelsea winger dismissed speculation that he was set to join United and join van Gaal, but now that he is in a very complex position at Bayern and van Gaal might be heading to Paris, the winger is considering his options.
There has also been a lot of interest from China for the Dutch superstar, with multiple clubs willing to splash the money to land him. Interest for the player is at an all time high, a rarity considering that his best years are probably behind him.
