Defensive midfielder - Ander Herrera
PSG have some excellent options in midfield, with the likes of Idrissa Gueye and Leandro Paredes yet to start this season.
Ander Herrera joined PSG from Manchester United on a free transfer in 2019. A fan favourite among the Old Trafford faithful due to his aggressive, energetic style of play, Herrera is a technically gifted midfielder who does not shirk away from his defensive duties.
The Spain international started against Strasbourg, and should get another start against Brest. However, there have been suggestions that the 32-year-old could leave the club this summer.
Central midfielder - Georginio Wijnaldum
Another big-name free signing this summer, Georginio Wijnaldum shunned interest from Barcelona to join PSG on a free transfer after his contract with Liverpool expired.
Wijnaldum was key for Liverpool during his five seasons with the club. The Netherlands international rarely missed a game due to injury, and was an ever-present under manager Jurgen Klopp. Wijnaldum might not be the most talented player on the field, but his work rate and off-the-ball prowess make him a world-class midfielder.
The 30-year-old will provide experience and quality to PSG's midfield. Wijnaldum should be a consistent starter for the club this season.
Central midfielder - Marco Verratti
One of the best midfielders in the world, Marco Verratti has been at PSG since 2012.
A highly-rated talent during his Pescara days, Verratti joined the Ligue 1 giants for nearly £11 million. He has proved to be an excellent purchase. The Italy international is technically gifted, an excellent tackler and a good passer, who played a key role in his country's Euro 2020 triumph.
The 28-year-old, much like Marquinhos, is one of the first names on the team sheet when fully fit. Verratti has had some issues with injuries in recent seasons, but he will be key if PSG are to do well this season.
