Defensive Midfielder - Idrissa Gueye
Idrissa Gueye has been one of PSG's best players this season. Defensively astute, he has provided a good base for the Ligue 1 giants' attacking talents.
Gueye joined PSG after three excellent seasons with Everton for £27 million in 2019. The Senegal international was no stranger to Ligue 1 when he moved to Paris. That's because he had made his name at Lille, where he made more than 150 appearances across competitions.
Gueye was linked with a move away this summer, but has established himself as one of the starting midfielders for PSG. This season, he has made eight Ligue 1 appearances, scoring three goals.
Central Midfielder - Georginio Wijnaldum
Georginio Wijnaldum has found game time difficult to come by this season. But he will hope that his brace against RB Leipzig in the Champions League changes that.
Wijnaldum was a high-profile free signing by PSG this season. He joined the club after a world-class spell with Liverpool in the Premier League, turning down offers from Barcelona and Bayern Munich to move to Paris. So far, he has had to make do with appearances from the bench, though.
The Netherlands international has made 11 Ligue 1 appearances. The likes of Ander Herrera and Gueye have enjoyed excellent starts to the new season, and that has not helped Wijnaldum's cause.
The 30-year-old will hope to find himself in the starting XI against Bordeaux, though, after his Champions League exploits in midweek.
Central Midfielder - Ander Herrera
Ander Herrera enjoyed a superb start to the new season, although there has been a lull in his performances recently.
Herrera is not a perfect midfielder, but few can match his tenacity and intensity. The 32-year-old joined PSG in 2019 after his contract with Manchester United expired. Herrera has done fairly well in France. However, like Gueye, he was linked with a move away from Paris this summer.
The Spain international has made 11 Ligue 1 appearances this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Herrera is not renowned for his goal contributions, so he has pleasantly surprised many with his form in front of goal this season.
