PSV Eindhoven, who wrapped up the Dutch league title with a 4-1 win over Heerenveen, revealed that Manchester United have asked about the availability of Memphis Depay. The 21-year old Dutchman who scored in the win is the leading scorer in the Eredivisie with 20 goals in 27 appearances.
PSV's technical director Marcel Brands speaking on Dutch television said, “We have had a telephone call from them about him,”
“But no talks have been held. Several top clubs have expressed interest.”
Referring to a previous rumoured 20 million euros bid from Tottenham Hotspur for the speedy attacking midfielder, he added, “It will be much higher than the offer from Tottenham Hotspur,” Brands added. “He will be very expensive.”
PSV coach Philip Cocu also said that he expects both Depay and Georginio Wijnaldum to depart the club following their first title win in seven years.
Depay impressed in the 2014 FIFA World Cup with the Netherlands team, playing under current Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.
