Queens Park Rangers‘ Esteban Granero has been loaned to Real Soceidad, and will play for the club for a period of one year.
Granero had left Real Madrid last year to play for QPR in an attempt to help the club avoid relegation from the Premier league, but unfortunately, QPR were not able to make it through.
“Esteban Granero has returned to Spain to join Real Sociedad on loan”, read a statement from QPR, as reported by Yahoo Sport.
“The 26-year-old midfielder has penned a season-long loan deal with the La Liga outfit.
“Granero, of course, joined QPR from Real Madrid last summer and has since made 28 appearances in all competitions for the Rs, scoring one goal.
“The deal is subject to international clearance.”
Its interesting to note that Soceidad will be able to purchase Granero at the end of the season if they so desire. The player has passed fitness tests and will be moving to San Sebastian on Friday, ahead of the new season.
Sociedad had finished fourth in the Primera Division last season, and will kick off their campaign against Lyon in the Champions League play-off game.
Granero’s ability to play in centre midfield or even a more attacking role will provide coach Jagoba Arrasate with more options in the coming season, especially after Asier Illarramendi’s move to Real Madrid.
