Columbian international footballer Radamel Falcao’s loan spell at his current club Manchester United will be made permanent at the end of the season. There have been reports that suggest that terms have been accepted and a €305,000-a-week salary has been signed upon to keep the striker at Old Trafford next summer.
A permanent deal beckons Falcao
The Goal has reported that Manchester United will shelve out £44m to AS Monaco for a permanent transfer of Falcao. United had brought the talismanic striker from the French club on the last day of the summer transfer window for a €8m season-long loan. The Red Devils have the choice to activate the deal at the end of the season if they are content with Falcao’s form and fitness at Old Trafford. There are speculations that both the groups want to turn the deal into a permanent agreement.
The 28-year-old currently receives a salary package of around €305,000 per week, and United have already signed the paperwork on the same terms if the deal transpires next summer. Jorge Mendes, Falcao’s agent has had a close association with the United executives and the striker has also shown his wish to stay at the club beyond this current season. In spite of Falcao’s move to United in a last-minute catch in the final hours of the last transfer window, authorities at Old Trafford had been working out various terms with Mendes for a long time.
Falcao shifted to Old Trafford after missing the World Cup with a serious knee injury. The current loan gives United the time to access Falcao’s performances and fitness after the injury prone player missed the second half of last season too. The next year summer transfer for the Columbian will show in United’s financial accounts which include a €190m in the transfer market.
Falcao nearly signed for Juventus
The managing director of Juventus, Giuseppe Marotta revealed this week that Falcao nearly signed for the Italian champions in the summer before the 20-times Premier League winners came in with a lucrative offer.
"We were following him and there was contact," said Marotta. "We were very close to [signing] Falcao and the player preferred Italy and our colours, but then United came forward and they have much more spending power than we do so the deal broke down."
Falcao has scored one goal and provided an assist in his five Premier League appearances, since joining Manchester United. He missed last Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea after picking up an injury in training last week.
United had brought in Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera for a rough figure of €76m and also broke the British transfer record with a €76.3m move for Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid and spent a further €44m for Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo after a bad start to the Premier League season in August. At the end of the transfer window deadline, swooped Falcao on loan to strengthen the team.
