Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao has quashed reports that indicated he had to put ice on his dodgy left knee in order to attain match fitness. The Colombian international took to Twitter and deemed the reports as “lies”. The on-loan Monaco striker suffered a Cruciate Ligament tear in January this year and subsequently missed the next six months, which included Colombia’s campaign at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Falcao has missed the last three games due to a different injury which he picked up in training ahead of the clash against Chelsea. It was earlier reported that he will sign for United in the summer as a deal had been agreed between his parent club and Manchester United.
However, a permanent move will depend on how well Falcao performs after he becomes match-fit as United are yet to activate the deal.
Manchester United yet to receive full value for Falcao
A lot of anticipation surrounded the signing of Falcao after he arrived from Monaco, but it is safe to say that he hasn’t lived up to those expectations. The 28-year old has struggled for fitness after having made just five appearances in the Premier League so far with 250 minutes under his belt.
In those five games, Falcao has laboured on as there weren’t any signs of the Falcao of old.
It is not easy to recover quickly from a long-term injury and unfortunately for Falcao, one injury followed the other as the calf injury hasn’t helped him one bit. He has missed key games against Chelsea and Manchester City which would have been ideal for him to showcase his talents.
Manager Louis Van Gaal revealed last week that he “cannot say when Falcao will be back”. With more than a week to recover now, we could see Falcao return to action against Arsenal on November 22nd and United will need him as well as they are yet to win a single game away from home.
