After the end of deadline day, reports from Spain have revealed that Barcelona midfielder, Ivan Rakitic had offers from three clubs but the Croatian rejected them all. Manchester United, Chelsea, and Juventus are said to have been the three clubs interested in signing the midfielder.
Rakitic is contracted with the Catalans till 2018 and it would have taken a huge fee to prise him away from Camp Nou.
Some reports had earlier emerged that Rakitic was feeling insecure about his place in the starting lineup after the arrivals of Dennis Suarez and Andre Gomes. But, it has now been confirmed by club president, Josep Bartomeu that the Croatian is going to be offered s new lucrative contract.
Bartomeu said, " We are talking to Messi just as we will speak to Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic. We will do so in the next few months as we want to renew their contracts as soon as possible. "
Rakitic has played in all of Barca's games this season and also scored a goal in their 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao. The Spanish champions have done tremendous business this season to sign young talents in Samuel Umtiti and Andre Gomes and, also Spanish starlets Paco Alcacer and Dennis Suarez.
Interest from three clubs
Manchester United were rumoured to be interested in the 28-year-old, as Rakitic who would have been an upgrade on the likes of Ander Herrera, Morgan Schneiderlin, and Michael Carrick.
Chelsea too were trying to take Rakitic in the last few days as their deal for Inter midfielder, Marcelo Brozovic collapsed on deadline day. The Blues were one of the busiest sides on the final day of the transfer period as they signed two defenders in Marcos Alonso and David Luiz.
Juventus, too, were looking at Ivan Rakitic is a replacement for Paul Pogba. They failed this summer to land their other midfield targets Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic and Blaise Matuidi.
The Italian champions, though, have been the real winners this summer, as they have signed some real good players in the transfer period.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported about offers for Rakitic but the 28-year-old has is willing to extend his contract and stay at the Catalan club for the foreseeable future.
