Newcastle United star Yohan Cabaye is reported to be a January target for Serie A giants Roma, according to the Evening Chronicle.
The midfielder is thought to be a priority target for Roma coach Rudi Garcia, who is enjoying an excellent start to the Italian campaign, occupying the top of the table in Serie A.
Cabaye’s future at Newcastle has been up in the air for some time after Toon chiefsrejected a £11 million bid from Arsenal in the summer, leading to the Frenchman’s refusal to play the first two games of the season.
However, with Roma’s interest now known, Cabaye could be tempted by the prospect of playing for the title leaders and playing in Europe.
It would also mean a reunion with his former manager, as Garcia managed the France international whilst in charge of Lille, although Roma would have to stump up the asking fee of around €15 million.
Despite his apparent eagerness to leave the North-East, Cabaye has been in good form for Newcastle with two goals and ten key passes in eight games.
