#6 Toni Kroos | Real Madrid

The two-time La Liga winner may be on the wrong side of 30 now. But Toni Kroos has been a mainstay in the middle third of the pitch for Real Madrid since his arrival at the club seven years ago.

During his seven-season stay at Madrid, the midfield metronome has racked up a century of goal contributions (22 goals, 82 assists) in over 300 appearances in all competitions for the club.

Though he doesn't score too many goals, he tends to find the back of the net in big matches. His free-kick against Madrid's arch-rivals Barcelona earlier this year is just one example of that. Kroos, a four-time Champions League winner, is considered one of the best in his position and renowned for his vision, passing prowess and creativity.

Usually deployed in a deep midfield role, the 2014 FIFA World Cup winner has made over 200 La Liga appearances for Los Blancos. Kroos remains one of the first names in the Real Madrid XI even now.

#5 Marcos Llorente | Atletico Madrid

Marcos Llorente is one of the best midfielders in La Liga at the moment, and a key cog in Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid.

The 26-year-old, who has made over 100 appearances in La Liga, enjoyed a dazzling campaign in the competition last season. Llorente registered 12 goals and provided 11 assists as the Rojiblancos won their first league title in seven years.

Llorente's nine assists in La Liga this calendar year is the joint-most by any player in the competition.

Capped nine times by Spain, Llorente has previously been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United. However, Atletico penned a new contract with the player that'll keep him with the Rojiblancos until 2027.

#4 Luis Suarez | Atletico Madrid

Luis Suarez is one of the most prolific strikers since the turn of the century. The Uruguayan has scored over 500 goals for club and country during an illustrious, nearly two-decade-long career.

Suarez, who has scored 165 goals in La Liga, netted 21 times in his debut campaign with Atletico Madrid in the 2020-21 season. His goals helped the Rojiblancos win the competition for the first time since 2013-14.

Suarez is also one of only three players to have scored 40 goals in a La Liga campaign. He enjoyed his most prolific stint in the competition with Barcelona, with whom he won four league titles.

Suarez has also been a prolific goalscorer in international football, netting a record 62 times for Uruguay.
