#3 Valencia

Gimnastic v Valencia - Copa del Rey: Round of 32

Valencia have been at the center stone of several controversies in the recent past. Financial troubles have taken the sheen away from the once-great club that used to challenge Real Madrid and Barcelona for the league title. During the war era, Valencia was a legendary club, winning several La Liga titles. They came close a few times before beginning the new millennium with a bang.

Valencia won the La Liga title in 2001-02 and replicated their success in 2003-04. Valencia also won the Copa del Rey on several occasions, including in 2018-19. While off-field issues have greatly hampered progress, the club also has the third-highest number of accumulated red cards, with 175 red cards.

#2 Sevilla

Leicester City v Sevilla FC - UEFA Champions League Round of 16: Second Leg

The Andalusian club of Sevilla has been one of the most successful clubs. They have been a challenger to the traditional top three in recent times. Sevilla have won only one league title in their history, but the club has found a lot of success in European football.

While Real Madrid holds the record for the maximum number of Champions League titles, Sevilla holds the same record for the Europa League (6).

Sevilla have been doing a lot of things right in recent time frames. Under Julen Lopetegui, Sevilla play a very attractive brand of football that looks great to watch. However, there is also a rough side to their game. Sevilla are a joint topper at the highest number of red cards, with 181 red cards since 2000 in all competitions.

#1 Lazio

US Lecce v SS Lazio - Serie A
US Lecce v SS Lazio - Serie A

No football club would have minded topping a competitive list, but it's quite unlikely that Lazio would have wanted to top this list in particular. Lazio is one of the oldest clubs from the Italian capital of Rome and is known mostly for its footballing activities. Unlike a few on this list, Lazio have had success recently, particularly in the Coppa Italia.

Lazio play an attractive brand of attacking football, but they also have hard-tackling defenders on their side. That resulted in a high number of red cards. Lazio have received 181 red cards across all competitions since 2000, making them joint toppers in this list.
