7. Leicester City - £49.14 million net spend
After failing to finish within the top four of the Premier League last season, Leicester City approached the summer transfer window with the aim of strengthening their squad and getting ready to fight for a Champions League spot this term.
The Foxes went a long way in their mission, going all out to make a couple of important additions, while being conservative with departures. They lured the likes of Patson Daka, Boubakary Soumare and Jannick Vestergaard to the King Power Stadium for a combined fee of over £50 million while the likes of Ademola Lookman and Ryan Bertrand arrived on loan and free transfer respectively.
Rachid Ghezzal completed a £3 million switch to Besiktas as Christian Fuchs and Matty James both left as free agents. The FA Cup champions closed the transfer window with £49.14 million net spend.
6. Leeds United - £54.7 million net spend
Following several weeks of links, Marcelo Bielsa eventually snapped up his priority target for the summer transfer window as Daniel James arrived from Manchester United on a permanent transfer worth £25 million.
Leeds United also signed Junior Firpo from Barcelona in a deal worth £12 million while Jack Harrison and Kristoffer Klaesson both landed from Manchester City and Valerenga respectively.
However, Bielsa's men are yet to claim victory in the Premier League this season, having recorded two draws and one defeat from their three league games so far. They'll be hoping for a change of fortune when they return from the international break next week.
5. West Ham United - £64 million net spend
West Ham United were quiet for most of the transfer window this summer. However, the Premier League outfit ended up making a couple of transfers in the latter phase, luring the likes of Kurt Zouma, Nikola Vlasic and Craig Dawson to the London Stadium.
They also paid a reported £4.5 million to sign Alex Kral on loan from Spartak Moscow. Felipe Anderson was sold for a paltry £3 million to Lazio with Frederik Alves joining Sunderland on loan while Fabian Balbuena and Conor Coventry both left on free transfers.
West Ham closed the transfer window with a net spend of £64 million, which was enough to make them the fifth-highest spending Premier League club this summer. It remains to be seen if they can justify that figure with their performances come the end of the season.
