#3 Karim Benzema (France/Real Madrid)
Karim Benzema has been on fire this year. The Real Madrid striker earned a well-deserved call-up to the international team for the Euros and justified his selection by scoring four goals in the tournament.
He has kicked on in the same vein in the early stages of the new season and looks to have improved despite being on the wrong side of 30. In nine appearances for both club and country in the month of September, Benzema scored seven goals and provided five assists.
His numbers for the 2021-22 season so far make for great reading. Benzema has scored nine goals and provided seven assists in nine appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos this term. That's a goal contribution rate of almost two per game and it goes to show how exemplary a footballer he is.
#2 Robert Lewandowski (Poland/Bayern Munich)
Robert Lewandowski was unfortunate to have missed out on a well-deserved Ballon d'Or due to the award being cancelled in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic last year. However, he continues to make a strong case for himself this year by stacking up incredible numbers.
In eight appearances for both club and country in September, the Bayern Munich striker scored nine goals and provided three assists. Lewandowski is unstoppable these days and the Bavarians seem more assured this season than they did in 2020-21.
Buoyed by the Polish international's heroics, Bayern Munich are unbeaten in the new season across all competitions. They also have a goal difference of +18 after six Bundesliga gameweeks.
#1 Erling Haaland (Norway/Borussia Dortmund)
Borussia Dortmund's goalscoring machine Erling Haaland is quickly establishing himself as one of the best strikers of the modern era. He just turned 21 in July but he is already a phenomenal marksman whose technical ability is at par with his tactical intelligence.
Haaland has been absolutely unstoppable this season so far. He made six appearances for club and country in the month of September. In those six appearances, Haaland scored a whopping 10 goals and provided an assist.
He netted a hat-trick for Norway against Gibraltar in their 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier. Haaland also bagged braces against Bayer Leverkusen and Union Berlin in the Bundesliga.
