#3 Danny Ings | Aston Villa

I think Danny Ings is a brilliant signing. I don’t think anyone expected Southampton to sell him this summer, and I think Aston Villa have pulled off an excellent piece of business. They’re not going to win the league or qualify for the UEFA Champions League, but they’ll be comfortable with Danny Ings in their squad.

I still think Ings can play for Liverpool. He was bang unlucky in Merseyside and his injuries prevented him from getting into the team. He will take Aston Villa to the next level this season and has already made his mark at the club.

You don’t see too many overhead kicks in the Premier League, and the fact that Ings can pull off the spectacular bodes well for Aston Villa. The way Villa play, he will probably score more than 15 goals this season, and I reckon that’s an excellent return.

#2 Raphael Varane | Manchester United

I’ve always looked to Manchester United in recent years and thought that their center-backs aren’t quick enough. As a result, they end up playing on the counter, because defenders are not particularly comfortable with pushing up towards the halfway line.

Raphael Varane adds a different dimension to Manchester United’s game. Their match against Wolves provided us with a perfect example. Adama Traore found an opportunity to break on the halfway line, but he wasn’t able to get past Varane. If that was Lindelof in his place, Traore would have easily knocked the ball past him.

With Varane in their squad, Manchester United can now start dominating games. Solskjaer can now play with an extra attacker with him on the pitch. They were crying out for a good center-back and Varane has now taken them to a new level.

#1 Romelu Lukaku | Chelsea

Liverpool v Chelsea - Premier League
Liverpool v Chelsea - Premier League

Chelsea are the reigning European champions at the moment, so it should come as a surprise that their top scorer in the Premier League last season was Jorginho. He scored seven goals from seven penalties and managed to top Chelsea’s goalscoring charts in the league.

If you want to win the Premier League, you need a proper goalscorer. You cannot win the league title with your top scorer managing only seven goals. Romelu Lukaku is an exceptional signing because he ticks all the boxes for Chelsea. He’s the perfect player for their system and will thrive under Thomas Tuchel.

Lukaku won Serie A last season and scored big goals in big games for Inter Milan. He’s a striker in his prime and will surely be in the Golden Boot race this season. In my opinion, Romelu Lukaku’s move to Chelsea is the best Premier League transfer of the summer.
