#3 Gary Lineker, forward
Before becoming one of the most renowned football presenters and pundits in the world, Gary Lineker was one of the finest strikers England had ever produced. Lineker is England's third-highest goal-scorer of all-time behind Wayne Rooney and Bobby Charlton with 48 goals in 80 appearances.
Gary Lineker was the only Englishman prior to Harry Kane to have won the Golden Boot at a FIFA World Cup. He won the award at the 1986 FIFA World Cup after scoring six goals in the tournament.

#2 Wayne Rooney, forward
Despite being heavily criticized for his inability to lead England to glory at any international tournament during the peak of his career, England fans are unlikely to forget the way Wayne Rooney burst onto the scene at Euro 2004.
Rooney is currently England's highest goal-scorer of all time with 53 goals, and is the country's second most capped player with 120 appearances. Rooney represented his country at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cups. He has won the England Player of the Year award four times.
At club level, Rooney ended his career as Manchester United's top goal-scorer of all time with 253 goals in 559 appearances. He helped Manchester United win five Premier League titles, an FA Cup, three EFL Cups, a Champions League, and a Europa League.
Rooney is second on the list of all-time goalscorers in the Premier League with 208 goals, and third on the list of highest all-time assists with 103. His versatility, unselfishness and leadership skills allowed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Dimitar Berbatov and Robin van Persie to shine at Old Trafford.
