With the 2016/17 La Liga season commencing from 21 August 2016, there is always excitement about the different strips that the three big clubs from Spain will be wearing. But are there any teams who can beat the big three in this department? We look at all the 20 teams with their new kits, and how good or bad their kits are:
20) Granada
Manufacturer – Joma
What Twitter said:
What we think: All the three kits look very out of fashion and the colour combinations are a little off putting. The manufacturers seem to have run out of good ideas.
19) Villarreal
Manufacturer – Joma
What Twitter said:
What we think: Even with the new manufacturers for the kits, Villarreal could not manage to come up with a unique home kit. The first kit is all yellow and there are not many changes. But the away kit is what has put the club at the 19th spot ahead of Granada.
18) Eibar
Manufacturer – Puma
What Twitter said:
What we think: The home kit does not have massive changes from the previous year. The away and third kits also do not catch the eye.
17) Real Sociedad
Manufacturer – Adidas
What Twitter said:
What we think: The home kit looks very common and does not have enough styling. The same could be said about the away kit.
16) Deportivo La Coruna
Manufacturer – Lotto
What Twitter said:
What we think: Given the amount of limited tweets about the new kits, we can easily say that there is nothing special about all the three kits from Lotto.
15) Las Palmas
Manufacturer – Acerbis
What Twitter said: Even Twitter did not take notice of the two kits.
What we think: Both the kits have very bright colours, therefore they don’t look pretty to the eye. The look and feel is also very old-fashioned as it seems we are back to the 2000s.
14) Leganes
Manufacturer – Joma
What Twitter said:
What we think: Newly promoted club has done well with the scratch and sniff badge where you can actually smell and taste grass, but there is nothing exceptional about the design and styling of the kit.
13) Espanyol
Manufacturer – Joma
What Twitter said:
What we think: The home and the third kit are pretty much the same from last season. However, it looks like the away kit is winning the hearts of the fans.
12) Sporting Gijon
Manufacturer – Nike
What Twitter said:
What we think: We like the look of both the kits. Sporting have done a good job of finishing at 12th in this table after they had finished at 17th in La Liga last season. The fans also seem eager about buying the kits.
11) Valencia
Manufacturer – Adidas
What Twitter said:
What we think: Adidas have done a good job this season with the kits as they had been heavily criticised last season for the below average jerseys. But fans seem to be loving the kits, especially the away one.
10) Deportivo Alavés
Manufacturer – Hummel
What Twitter said:
What we think: The newly promoted side have done an exceptional job with the kit. They have a trendy collared look for both the home and away kits.
9) Celta Vigo
Manufacturer – Adidas
What Twitter said:
What we think: The club had finished 6th last season in La Liga and have done a great job in building an attractive kit. The club has not disappointed its fans with these kits. A special mention to the away kit which looks marvellous with the yellow stripes on dark blue.
8) Osasuna
Manufacturer – Adidas
What Twitter said:
What we think: Twitter was not ablaze with tweets about the new Osasuna kits. But we think that Adidas has done more than a good job with the colors. They have blended the club’s historic colors with some new ones.
7) Athletic Bilbao
Manufacturer – Nike
What Twitter said:
What we think: Even though this pattern is the most common with a few Spanish sides, the club has been given a great home kit by Nike. The stripes on the front have increased from last season, and it is sure to be a hit with the Bilbao fans in the coming season.
6) Sevilla
Manufacturer – New Balance
What Twitter said:
What we think: New Balance has done a pretty decent job with the home and away kits for the reigning Europa League champions. However, they have been criticised for the same design of the third kit that Liverpool had worn last season. But still, all the three kits together look excellent and feature at number 6 in our list.
5) Malaga
Manufacturer – Nike
What Twitter said:
What we think: The home kit is class from Nike and has a different look to it from previous seasons. However, the manufacturer has also produced a very similar kit for Coventry City. The away kit also look stellar with the purple look to it. Hence, the club finishes inside the top-5 in this list.
4) Real Betis
Manufacturer – Adidas
What Twitter said:
What we think: Real Betis have been ahead of the pack in the recent seasons with their stunning kits and the same goes for this year. Adidas have produced three outstanding kits for the club.
There is a lot of green involved in these kits, but it gives a good look to all of them. There is not much wrong with the three kits. Our favorite is the away kit which has visible white borders and stripes.
3) Atletico Madrid
Manufacturer – Nike
What Twitter said:
What we think: The fans have loved the away kit for some reason that is unknown to us. The away kit features an all black base, with some shades of blue on the sides. One positive from the away kit is that Nike has decided to have the natural colors for the logo unlike in many of the other black kits. The home kit does not see many changes and allows Atleti fans to wear the white, red and blue proudly.
2) Barcelona
Manufacturer – Nike
What Twitter said:
What we think: Nike has always had the biggest pressure when producing new kits for one of the biggest clubs on the planet, and they have delivered yet again. The new home kit has been getting applause from all around the world. And without a sponsor on the front, it looks even more breathtaking.
The away kit is also smart, with the pink outlining giving it a new look. Both the kits have been famous since the launch. However, the third kit has striked everyone because of the similar color to Real Madrid’s away strip.
Barca fans will say that the club should have finished on top on this list as well, but all we can say is – better luck next season.
1) Real Madrid
Manufacturer – Adidas
What Twitter said:
What we think: Adidas has done a great job with all the three kits. The home kit has a collared look that has been brought back to football by the manufacturer itself in recent seasons. The away kit also has a traditional purple colour blend to it which has iconic white stripes.
However, the most liked kit has been their third kit which has received a lot of praise for the unique graphic that features on both the sleeves which has been inspired by the Plaza de Cibeles, the place where Real Madrid have traditionally celebrated their title wins.
We believe that Real’s kits for the 2016/17 season are the best in La Liga given all the three kits speak volumes for themselves.Real’s kits for the 2016/17 season are the best in La Liga given all the three kits speak volumes for themselves.
