#3. Javier Mascherano - West Ham United, Liverpool
Javier Mascherano is one of the most loved footballers in Liverpool's history.
Mascherano represented West Ham United for a year before joining Liverpool in 2007. He was a Liverpool player for three years, providing much-needed stability to their midfield.
Mascherano excelled in his defensive midfield role. He was extremely intelligent and hard-working and could often be seen setting up the play for the midfield line ahead of him.
The Argentine made 139 appearances for Liverpool, most notably finishing as the runner-up in the UEFA Champions League in 2007. He went on to join Barcelona in 2010, where he won several trophies and etched his name into club folklore.
Mascherano boasts an impressive record for his country as well. He has made 147 appearances for La Albiceleste, second only to Lionel Messi. Mascherano also served as their captain between 2008 and 2011.
Mascherano announced his retirement in November 2020.
#2. Carlos Tevez - West Ham, Man United, Man City
Carlos Tevez is one of Argentina's all-time great players.
The Argentine spent a considerable chunk of his career in the Premier League. Tevez played for three different English clubs: West Ham, Manchester United and Manchester City, for a combined seven years.
Tevez was known for his tenacity and strength in attack. Though Tevez was a striker, he was also more than capable of playing as a winger. His time with West Ham was considered his career's breakout period, as Tevez established himself as one of the league's best strikers.
His efforts earned him a move to Premier League heavyweights Manchester United in 2007. Tevez formed a deadly strike partnership with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo and went on to win two Premier Leagues, one UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Barely two years later, Tevez made a shocking move to local rivals Manchester City. His move triggered uproar throughout England and he was branded a traitor. The criticism didn't seem to weigh him down though; Tevez spent four successful years on the blue side of Manchester.
He won a Premier League title and an FA Cup during his time with the Cityzens, before leaving England for Juventus in 2013.
