Although his tenure was short and riddled with injuries, the winger delivered some powerful performances. Due to his explosive nature on the flanks, he remains one of the best wingers to have worn the Blue jersey.
#2 Juan Mata
Juan Mata was simply one of the best Spanish players to have played for Chelsea. During his brief period with the Blues, Mata wreaked havoc with his creativity from wide areas.
Mata possessed superior vision and was extremely skillful, which helped him create a lot of chances for his teammates. The left-footed wizard would often launch attacks of his own and play out venomous through balls to break defensive barriers.
Mata bagged 32 goals and 58 assists for Chelsea and remains one of the highest scoring Spanish players in Premier League history. For his exploits, Mata was awarded the 'Player of the Year' award twice during his tenure at Stamford Bridge.
#1 Ashley Cole
One of the best left-backs in the Premier League era, Ashley Cole has forever etched his name in the history books. He was already a two-time Premier League winner at Arsenal before joining arch-rivals Chelsea.
It goes without saying that Cole was defensively rock solid. The left-back's defensive prowess remains a dream for many young footballers across the globe. Yet making challenges with his left-foot was not his only forte.
Cole was offensively superb, often helping his team out to create chances on the overlaps. He was a serious threat to be reckoned with when making forward runs, which helped him rack up seven goals and 38 assists for the Blues.
Cole enjoyed a trophy-laden career with the Blues, winning four FA Cups, a Premier League and a Champions League, among other notable accolades.
