Manchester City are the most in-form team in the division and their midfielders are relatively underpriced in comparison to the midfielders of the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham.
This has made them an attractive option for the FPL managers, but the main problem has been figuring out which among the 4 or 5 midfielders to pick from.
We have ranked them based on the goal/assist threat they provide and how good an option they are for the next few games. Price has also been taken into consideration, to give you the best idea:
#5. Fernandinho (£5.1)
At 5.1, Fernandinho seems to be a better option than Matic, Kante or Xhaka if you like to keep a cheaper midfield option from one of the top 6 teams.
He's been going forward a lot this season and with City dominating games in the league, he might just add to his goal last week in the next few games.
However, by virtue of being a defensive midfielder, he won't get you as many points as the options on this list which is why he is ranked 5th in our list. However, he will get you an extra point every time the Cityzens keep a clean sheet.
#4. Kevin de Bruyne (£10.0)
He is one of the best players in the league right now and is surely a treat to watch when in full flow. However, FPL doesn't give points for beautiful plays and accurate passes.
De Bruyne's deeper role this year has made him a less attractive option for FPL managers looking for City cover for their squad, given his hefty price of £10.0, which might be completely worth it, but exceeds everyone else on this lift.
All the other options on this list are around £1.5-2.5 cheaper than him and have more points than him this season(except Bernardo SIlva) which is why he'll have to settle for the fourth position on our list.
#3. Leroy Sane (£8.5)
He has forced his way into this strong City lineup and will look to be consistent enough to keep his position given the competition for places in this city team.
His contribution in these past few matches can't be denied and he'll surely play a big part in the games to come, but with Aguero back in contention for a place in the side and Mendy's injury, Sane might be used as a right wing-back by Pep Guardiola, as he's done that before in this season too or might even be dropped from the lineup in favour of the next 2 players on our list.
The fact that he's no longer nailed on and might not even play in his regular position works against him in terms of FPL and that's why he's not higher up on our list.
#2. David Silva (£8.6)
This season, the Spaniard has redefined his role in the city lineup and has been in wonderful form.
Silva is leading the assist table, and scored his first goal of the season in the 7-2 drubbing of Stoke CIty last week, and will be up to the task this week too with a match against Burnley.
He is the most nailed on option after De Bruyne and offers much more in the attack than him so he makes it to the second position in our list.
#1. Sterling(£8.2)
He's been performing consistently this season and he's priced reasonably, yet his ownership is not that high which might be due to Pep's rotation policy.
However, Sterling has continued to score goals and provide assists either from the starting position or by coming on from the bench.
With Jesus is in need of a rest after playing regularly for a long time, Sterling is expected to play up front with Aguero which increases his chances of getting on the scoresheet.
Right now, he's one of the most nailed on options in the City line up, and is expected to be one of the main goal threats in the coming weeks.
