Everything that transpired at the Selhurst Park that day was nothing short of Hollywood drama.

United needed a win to keep up the pressure in the battle for second position whilst Palace were still on the wrong side of the table and were desperate for three points.

But Chris Smalling's goal off Antonia Valencia's cross raised hopes for a turnaround. Lukaku scored a marvellous goal a few minutes later, squeezing the ball into the net with four defenders converging on him.

Against all the odds, in stoppage-time, Nemanja Matic scored via a thunderous volley to break the Palace hearts.

It was a breathtaking finish from 30 yards from the Serbian and it was also his first goal for United.
