1. Alisson Becker - Liverpool
When Liverpool were beaten 3-1 by Real Madrid in the 2018 Champions League Final, after two absolute howlers from Loris Karius, it was clear that Liverpool would need a new goalkeeper before they would be able to achieve real, sustained success at Anfield. The goalkeeper they turned to was Alisson, who, for just over a week, became the most expensive ‘keeper in world football when Liverpool bought him from Roma for a fee of £67 million.
He has proved to be worth the money, playing a key role as Liverpool came runners-up in the Premier League with a club-record 97 points, and won the Champions League for the sixth time. He has given an air of confidence to a previously shaky backline and cut down on the number of errors that we have seen in the Liverpool goal in recent years. With Liverpool looking to finally break their Premier League duck this season, Alisson will be key.
