The last gameweek was a bad one for most of the players as the 2 most popular captaincy choices(Lukaku and Kane) yielded only 4 points.
This has made the captaincy problem even more complex as the set formula that worked fine until game week 7 is no longer looking like a viable option with 2 of the top 6 teams facing each other almost each week
We look at the top 5 captaincy candidates for game week 9-
#5. Hazard [vs Watford(H)]
It's safe to say that Hazard is getting back to his best with a great performance last night against Roma where he scored 2 goals.
Chelsea will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing result against the worst (statistically) team in the division.
His impact on Chelsea's performance is immense as can be seen from Chelsea's last 2 title-winning seasons and he'll once again look to be the key man along with Morata(if he plays).
With a low ownership, Hazard can prove to be a differential even without the captaincy and that's the only reason he's not ranked higher up in the list.
#4. Salah [vs Tottenham(A)]
Tottenham might have won at Wembley but that win was far from convincing and they face a far better team than Bournemouth on Saturday when Liverpool visit the capital.
Liverpool come to London on the back of an amazing 7-0 win against Maribor on Tuesday and will look to work their magic against the London side.
With Firmino and Sturridge struggling for goals in the league, Liverpool have relied upon Salah for goals and he has done a fairly good job and if Liverpool do manage to score a few goals at Wembley, expect Salah's name to be on the scoresheet.
#3. Kane [vs Liverpool(H)]
Kane is the best striker in the world right now and is up against a Liverpool side with a leaky defence. Captaining Kane is a no-brainer but the Wembley hoodoo is still prevalent.
They might have won at home last week but only by a 1-0 margin against a team having an even worse defensive record than Liverpool.
However, they did beat Dortmund at Wembley in a game where Kane scored a brace and it might just be the case this time around with Liverpool.
The confusion as to how Tottenham will deal with the pressure is the main reason that he's not the best option for captaincy this week.
#2. Sterling [vs Burnley(H)]
Manchester City have been scoring goals for fun and with the return of Aguero, there is some confusion whether Jesus will start or not.
This makes captaining him a risky proposition and for that reason, we are choosing sterling ahead of Jesus for the Captaincy as Sterling is more nailed on for this week and he's been in the form of his life and will be expected to continue scoring points.
#1. Lukaku [vs Huddersfield(A)]
Manchester United have looked a little bit off-colour after the international break but they'll be playing against a Huddersfield team who have not won a game since 24th August.
Lukaku will relish the opportunity to go against low-on-morale defenders and continue his amazing goalscoring record at United.
With his ownership as high as 57.8%, it'd be a stupid decision to not captain him this game week.
