Brazil is by far the most popular and celebrated Men's National Team in the world of football, having given us some of the most iconic names ever to step foot on the lush green grass in history including Pele, Zico, Ronaldo de Lima, Ronaldinho, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Rivaldo but to name a few.
With five World Cup wins, the Samba Boys are the most successful side in the history of the most prestigious football competition in the world as well as the Confederations Cup, while they have also won every other major football tournament at all levels.
However, for all of their successes elsewhere, Brazil have somewhat underperformed in the Copa America with just eight triumphs, which is some way beneath the totals posted by Argentina and Uruguay.
The last five years have not exactly been the most glorious for Brazilian football, as other than winning a long-awaited Gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games on home soil, there has not really been much else to celebrate. Their shocking elimination by Germany in Belo Horizonte in the 2014 World Cup semifinal will go down as one of the most disappointing performances in their illustrious history.
Brazil has failed to make it to the semifinal of the Copa America in each of the last three editions and would be looking to make amends on home soil.
Their charge would, however, be hampered by the absence of talisman Neymar who pulled up with an ankle injury just a few days to the commencement of the tournament but in the absence of the PSG man, Tite has more than enough ammunition in his armoury to go all the way.
