Rapinoe criticises FIFA on the eve of the Women's World Cup final
Rapinoe pointed to the scheduling of two major tournament finals on the same day and the growing pay disparity between the men's and women's game, as examples of indifference from FIFA.
Finals of both the Copa America and Gold Cup will be contested just hours after the USA and the Netherlands face-off in Lyon.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino said he wants to double the Women's World Cup prize money, team preparation funding and cash for clubs releasing players, to 100 million US dollars (89 million Euros).
A figure dwarfed by the 2022 men's tournament in Qatar that will have prize money of 649 million US dollars (578 million Euros), and money for clubs releasing players.
