Rumour: Real Madrid legend Raul to retire at the end of the season

Real Madrid's Raul Gonzalez kisses his ring after scoring the second goal during the Spanish League match Real Madrid vs Malaga in Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu stadium 18 May 2003.

Raul who plays for Al Sadd now will be retiring at the end of this season.

According to Super Sports, former Real Madrid captain Raul will be retiring from professional football at the end of this season.

Raul, 36, is contracted to Qatar based-club Al-Sadd, which he joined after his 16 loyal years with Real Madrid, and a couple at Bundesliga’s Schalke.

Raul had previously hinted that he would be trying his hand in coaching, but it is unsure if he would go back to his boyhood club Real Madrid as chances are that Al Sadd’s officials will be persuading him to remain in Qatar for another season.

Raul is the fourth highest goalscorer in La Liga history with his 228 goals, and also the all-time leading scorer of the UEFA Champions League.
