Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has suggested that the club sign Chelsea backup striker Demba Ba.
Ba, 28, has been out of favour at Chelsea ever since he signed for the club a year ago, as he’s scored just three goals in the Premier League in almost 30 matches.
Arsene Wenger came close to landing the striker on-loan at the start of the season and could return with another attempt late in the transfer window. Ba would, obviously, be used as a backup for Olivier Giroud should he sign.
He told the TalkSport: “You need a big squad and I’m sure Arsene Wenger is looking at the situation and thinking, ‘who can we bring in to help?’
“Demba Ba would be perfect for Arsenal. They need someone like that, but would Chelsea let him leave for Arsenal?
“I don’t know at the moment. They have sold Juan Mata to Man United but maybe they are viewing Arsenal as a little bit more of a threat at the moment.”
Before signing for Chelsea, in what will be seen as a mistake, Ba was on fire for Newcastle and had scored 29 goals in 54 Premier League matches.
Ba has had 11 shots in eight matches this season, scoring once, which is a conversion rate of 9.1%.
