The action continues in round two of the DFB Pokal as RB Leipzig welcome St. Pauli to the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday. Having failed to win the last four meetings between the two teams, Marco Rose’s men will head into the midweek clash looking to get one over the visitors and continue their push for a third cup crown.
RB Leipzig picked up a fourth straight victory in the German Bundesliga when they edged out Freiburg 3-1 on home turf at the weekend. Before that, Rose’s side were condemned to a third straight defeat in the UEFA Champions League on October 23, when they were beaten 1-0 by Liverpool.
Leipzig, who sit second in the league table with 20 points from eight games, turn their focus to the DFB Pokal, where they kicked off their campaign with a 4-1 victory over Rot-Weiss Essen on August 17.
St. Pauli, on the other hand, failed to find their feet on Saturday when they played out a goalless draw with Wolfsburg in their Bundesliga clash at the Millerntor-Stadion.
Alexander Blessin’s men have now failed to win four straight games in all competitions — losing three and claiming one draw — a run that has seen them drop to 16th place in the league table.
St. Pauli will look to turn things around in the DFB Pokal, where they avoided an upset in the opening round on August 16, picking up a 3-2 extra-time win over amateur side Hallescher FC.

- St. Pauli have failed to win all but one of their most recent nine games in all competitions, losing six and picking up two draws since August.
- Leipzig are unbeaten in 10 of their last 12 competitive home matches, claiming seven wins and three draws since mid-February.
RB Leipzig vs St. Pauli Prediction
Leipzig bounced back from their Champions League defeat with a dominant home win over Freiburg at the weekend and will return to cup action in high spirits.
Given the gulf in quality and squad depth between the two teams, we are backing Rose's men to come out on top against an out-of-sorts St. Pauli side.
Prediction: RB Leipzig 3-1 St. Pauli
