Barcelona took the lead twice at Real Betis but were pegged back both times as their La Liga game ended 2-2 on Saturday, December 7.
After their big win over Mallorca in midweek, boss Hansi Flock opted to make just a single change, with Robert Lewandowski returning to spearhead the attack, replacing Ferran Torres.
Betis created the clear-cut chances early on, but Barcelona opened the scoring in the 39th minute. League-leading scorer Lewandowski collected his 16th of the campaign, turning home a ball from Jules Kounde to make it 1-0.
After the break, Betis continued to create chances and eventually found their equaliser. Giovani Lo Celso converted from the spot after a foul by Frenkie de Jong in the box.
Barca restored their advantage late on as substitute Torres got on the scoresheet. After a lengthy check for offside by VAR, he was adjudged onside, scoring from a pass from Lamine Yamal to make it 2-1.
However, there was more late drama as Betis grabbed a well-deserved equaliser in stoppage time. Substitues Aitor Ruibal and Assane Diao combined before the latter poked home a cross to level the scores.
The result sees the Blaugrana retain first place, extending their lead to five points over Real Madrid who have two games in hand. On that note, here are the Barcelona player ratings:
Barcelona Player Ratings
Inaki Pena - 7.5/10
A big reason behind Barcelona not losing the game was Pena, who made a brilliant stop early in the game to deny the hosts. He finished with three saves but did well overall.
Jules Kounde - 7/10
A strong outing from the Frenchman, contributing well going forward and collecting an assist for the first goal.
Pau Cubarsi - 5.5/10
A nervy performance from the youngster as he struggled to deal with the energetic Betis press.
Inigo Martinez - 6/10
Martinez had a better time than his partner in central defence but could have done better to prevent Betis' second.
Alejandro Balde - 5/10
A nightmarish outing saw the Spaniard struggle to contain Betis' threat down the left, and it was confusing to see him remain for long on the pitch.
Marc Casado - 6/10
Playing in front of the back four, Casado had a decent outing but couldn't impact much of the play.
Pedri - 6.5/10
A solid performance, playing a key role in the build-up to the first goal before being taken off after 74 minutes.
Dani Olmo - 5.5/10
Olmo was almost forgotten on the field, barely making an impact. He had just 27 touches and 10 passes in his 60-minute cameo.
Lamine Yamal - 8/10
Yamal continues to grow into a world-class player for Barcelona. He was a constant threat down the right and picked Torres with a great ball to restore his side's lead.
Robert Lewandowski - 7/10
The Poland international added to his league-leading tally with a simple finish but was largely not involved for much of the game.
Raphinha - 6/10
An unusually quiet outing from one of Barcelona's best attackers this season, he came close to scoring early on but was otherwise kept silent.
Substitutes
Ferran Torres - 7/10
He got on the scoresheet with a smart finish and was effective overall.
Frenkie de Jong - 5/10
It was a forgettable cameo from the Dutchman, conceding a penalty after coming on. Injuries and poor form means an exit from Barcelona could be on the cards.
Gavi - 6.5/10
He did well and injected some energy into the midfield.
Pau Victor - 6/10
He didn't have much of an impact after coming on for Lewandowski.
Hector Fort - N/A
He came on too late and didn't play enough minutes to merit a rating.
