Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe got on the scoresheet as Real Madrid eased to a 2-0 win over Getafe in La Liga on Sunday, December 1. The result sees Los Blancos jump to within one point of league leaders Barcelona with a game in hand.
A difficult loss at the hands of Liverpool in the Champions League meant Los Blancos needed a turnaround quickly. They were still without Vinicius Jr along with a heap of other top stars, including Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and David Alaba.
Real Madrid drew first blood after 30 minutes, earning a penalty after Antonio Rudiger was fouled. Jude Bellingham stepped up and converted confidently, handing his side the lead.
The Englishman turned provider eight minutes later, finding Kylian Mbappe with a smart pass. The Frenchman took a couple of touches before blasting home to double their advantage.
In the second half, the hosts had a penalty chalked off and Mbappe missed a glorious chance to add to the scoreline. However, they saw the game out comfortably, taking home all three points.
Here are the player ratings:
Real Madrid Player Ratings
Thibaut Courtois - 6.5/10
A silent first half followed by some action in the second, the Belgian shot-stopper finished the game with three saves.
Lucas Vazquez - 6.5/10
He had a decent game, joining the attack from the right flank, but questions about whether he is an adequate backup at the position remain.
Raul Asencio - 7/10
A strong performance from the academy graduate, who is growing in confidence. Asencio has displayed calmness and maturity since his promotion to the first team and put in a good showing against a usually physical Getafe team.
Antonio Rudiger - 7/10
Similar to his centre-back partner, he was solid on the ball and also won the penalty to give Real Madrid the lead.
Fran Garcia - 6/10
A mostly quiet night out as most of Getafe's attacks came down the left. He finished with one chance created and one pass into the final third, leaving a lot to be desired for Los Blancos fans at both full-back positions.
Dani Ceballos - 7.5/10
Ceballos was probably Real Madrid's best midfielder on the night. The Spaniard was instrumental in the side's control of the game and his passing was key in unlocking the Getafe setup.
Fede Valverde - 6.5/10
A typically energetic performance from Valverde, covering every blade of grass and finishing with nine passes into the final third, six accurate long balls, one block, and six recoveries.
Jude Bellingham - 8/10
Bellingham is seemingly picking his form back up after a tough start to the season. He collected a goal and an assist before being taken off as a precaution, showing his class throughout his stay on the field.
Brahim Diaz - 6/10
Diaz struggled to impress and found it difficult to get space down the right alongside Rodrygo, who was looking to play in a similar position.
Rodrygo - 6/10
The Brazilian winger seems ill-suited to playing through the middle as he drifted around in hopes of getting involved.
Kylian Mbappe - 7/10
Mbappe will be happy to have gotten on the scoresheet, but he should have done better with his other chances.
Substitutes
Arda Guler - 6.5/10
He looked decent after coming on and arguably deserved a start over Diaz.
Luka Modric - 6.5/10
A calm presence in midfield replacing Rodrygo as Real Madrid changed their shape a bit.
