Real Madrid comfortably beat Liga MX side Pachuca 3-0 in the 2024 Intercontinental Cup final on Tuesday, December 18. The match took place at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar.

Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti named a surprisingly strong side for the fixture, with Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr, and Jude Bellingham, all named in the starting XI.

The first half was a mostly quiet affair as neither side created good chances. However, the deadlock was broken in the 37th minute following a moment of brilliance from Vinicius, who dribbled past defenders and rounded the goalkeeper before setting up Mbappe for a simple tap-in.

The Frenchman turned provider next up, finding Rodrygo, whose accurate finish early in the second half (53') gave Real Madrid some much-needed breathing room.

With Pachuca putting bodies ahead in search of goals, the Spanish giants eventually found their third. Lucas Vazquez was fouled in the box and Vinicius converted the spot-kick to make it 3-0 after 84 minutes.

Ancelotti has now won 15 trophies with the side, making him the most successful manager in Real Madrid's history. Here are the player ratings from the match:

Real Madrid Player Ratings

Thibaut Courtois - 7/10

Courtois was called into action a little more than he probably expected to be, but did well to keep the clean sheet. He made four saves, including a couple sharp ones in the first half.

Lucas Vazquez - 6.5/10

He had a solid game and won Real Madrid the penalty late in the game.

Aurelien Tchouameni - 6/10

A decent performance but questions remain if he is the side's best option at centre-back, especially with youngster Raul Asencio putting in some impressive performances.

Antonio Rudiger - 6.5/10

The German was at his usual best, providing stability and calmness in the back four. He finished with two clearances, one block, and one interception.

Fran Garcia - 6.5/10

Garcia looked sharp and impressed at times down the left, making a case to be the regular first option over Ferland Mendy.

Federico Valverde - 7/10

A typical energetic performance from the Uruguayan, contributing both on and off the ball. He finished with 12 passes into the final third, three chances created, seven duels won, and three tackles.

Eduardo Camavinga - 6.5/10

A solid hour-long cameo from the Frenchman, but he was unable to match Valverde's intensity.

Jude Bellingham - 7.5/10

Bellingham remains one of Real Madrid's most potent threats going forward. Against Pachuca, he provided some killer passes and was instrumental despite not getting on the scoresheet.

Rodrygo - 7.5/10

The Brazilian was a potent threat down the right and collected a goal as well. His return from injury will be a massive boost for Los Blancos.

Kylian Mbappe - 7.5/10

The 25-year-old is showing signs of his old self, putting in a sharp display at the Lusail Stadium. He was in the right place to tap home a simple goal.

Vinicius Jr - 8/10

Real Madrid's talismanic attacker and FIFA's The Best winner put in another statement performance against Pachuca. His brilliant assist for the first goal combined with his spot-kick showed his ability to influence games.

Substitutes

Brahim Diaz - 6/10

Came on for the last half hour but could not offer much.

Dani Ceballos - 6/10

Provided some energy in midfield after replacing Camavinga.

Luka Modric - 6/10

Brought on to offer more control in the latter stages of the game and did just that.

Raul Asencio and Arda Guler - N/A

The duo came on too late and did not play enough minutes to merit a rating.
