Real Madrid Thump Tianjin Teda 6-0 in Friendly, End Tour of China on a high

Real Madrid finished their tour of China in flying style with a 6-0 victory over Tianjin Teda. The thumping victory serves as the perfect preparation for the Spanish Super Cup first leg match against Barcelona. It was a comfortable victory for the Spanish club which served in giving all the players a good run-in and a chance to prove their worth for a berth in the starting XI. The only negative which came out of the match for Real Madrid was Sergio Ramos feeling some pain in his troubled back and getting substituted in the 39th minute.

Nice and easy for Real Madrid against their Chinese opponents

The first half saw practically a Real Madrid B side in action. Two goals arrived via a penalty converted by Kaka in the 8th minute and a goal from Angel Di Maria in the 13th minute. There were some interesting observations to be made from the half. Kaka is still way below the form and class that made him the world’s best player in Milan and he increasingly looks set to spend a lot of time on the bench in the upcoming season. Gonzalo Higuain clearly feels the pressure of the possibility of playing second-fiddle to the in-form Karim Benzema. He looked anxious to score, frustrated and individualistic. The Argentine finally got a goal in 64th minute and was substituted.

Following this, we saw some attractive play from Real Madrid as Marcelo, Ozil, Ronaldo and Benzema oozed class and played a part in the next three goals, from Ronaldo in the 71st minute and Benzema in the 76th and 79th minutes. Special mention goes to young French defender Raphael Varane, who looked solid, comfortable and secure in the match, playing the full 90 minutes and showing bright signs of earning a starting berth. The latter could be a distinct possibility if Ramos’ injury is more serious than expected. Another player who must not be forgotten for his contributions in the game was Fabio Coentrao, who was everywhere on the field and produced a fine performance that spoke a lot about his athleticism and skills. Overall, a walk in the park for the Spanish superstars and the end to a perfect pre-season tour.
