The defeat to Barcelona at home has hit the Madrid board hard, and they have made some shocking decisions. The board have decided to sell five first team players and replace them with world class talents according to Diario GOL.
Zidane's men were level on terms in the added time of the 2nd half, but some Messi magic won the game for the Catalan side. Florentino Perez and co were frustrated to the core that they called for an emergency meeting with the manager on Monday and charted out the plans for the summer.
Here are the five players who are set to be sold in the summer:
#1 - Keylor Navas
Navas had a brilliant game in goal, but the board are still blaming him for conceding three goals. The members are frustrated with his positioning and have decided to sell him in the summer.
The Costa Rican is a target for Lazio and reports earlier this season suggested that the goalkeeper had agreed terms to join them. With Madrid looking to sell the shot-stopper in the summer, the Serie A side will take full advantage of it and agree a deal with Los Blancos as well.
David De Gea is being targetted by the club board members to replace Navas. Los Blancos are ready to offer a world-record fee for the Spaniard, but Red Devils reportedly want Raphael Varane and Alvaro Morata in return.
#2 - Karim Benzema
Benzema was one of the worst players on the pitch for Madrid, and the board has lost its patience with him. Zidane too is not happy with the striker's recent form and has agreed to let go of the Frenchman in the summer.
Arsenal and PSG are reportedly interested in signing the striker this summer and are waiting for the Los Blancos to quote their price for him. Madrid are said to be looking for around £40 million for him and want to get rid of him as soon as possible now.
Real Madrid have made Paulo Dybala their #1 target for the summer and are ready to offer £120 million for him. They are also thinking of adding Benzema to the deal as a sweetener.
#3 - Luka Modric
Luka Modric had a good game against Barcelona. However, Zidane believes it's time for the club to replace him with a young midfielder. The manager believes that the Croatian's lack of pace is responsible for Casemiro's need to make reckless challenges.
Bayern Munich are reportedly the team interested in signing the star midfielder. The Germans want him to replace Xabi Alonso, who has announced his retirement from professional football. Los Blancos are said to be demanding £27 million for the playmaker who turns 32 this summer.
Madrid are targeting Marco Verratti as Modric's replacement and will be doing all they can to get him in the summer. Barcelona and Chelsea are also interested in signing him, and thus, the price will only increase from the £70 million initially demanded by PSG.
#4 - Nacho Fernandez
Nacho Fernandez might be the only fit central defender in Real Madrid's squad right now, but the board members believe he is not fit for the club. They want a better partner for Sergio Ramos, and Zidane has agreed to this.
Pepe's contract runs out at the end of the season while Varane has been injured a lot in recent times. Nacho has been doing a good job as a replacement, but the name isn't big enough for the Perez and board members.
Leonardo Bonucci is currently their #1 defensive target while a move for Borussia Dortmund's Sokratis Papastathopoulos is also on the cards. The other option they currently have is to bring back Jesus Vallejo from his loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt when the season ends.
#5 - James Rodriguez
James Rodriguez changed the game for Real Madrid when he came on. He scored the equaliser after a brilliant run, but the player is unhappy at the club.
He believes he is not getting enough game time and wants to play more. Manchester United and Juventus are keen on signing him, but the player only wants to work under Carlo Ancelotti according to reports.
Bayern Munich have reportedly agreed a deal to sign him in the summer but the Spanish side and now not willing to let him go there. They want to offer him to Chelsea as they want Eden Hazard to move to Bernabeu.
